The Hunger Games Cntd.

So I haven't had lots of time to read much of the hunger games but I have gotten further into the book. So Katniss and her family are waiting for the mayor to announce who is being sacrificed and they find out that her little sister, Primrose will have to fight. In the heat of the moment Katniss freezes and watches her sister slowly walk to the stage and right before she starts walking up the steps Katniss comes back to earth (so to speak) and stops her sister from walking to the stage and as her sister tries to fight it she is grabbed by. What surprised me the most is how calm about it but she says it's because she doesn't want the other contestants to think that she is weak. I think that Katniss isn't scared so much about the fact that she might die as much as the fact that even if she did win what fighting might do to her. This is because a former contestant from district 12 that won the games many years ago, attended the ceremony as a special guest and she describes him as a person that doesn't take good care of himself and intoxicates himself with alcohol a lot. I am excited to continue reading especially because I want to find out what boy from district 12 is participating.

  1. What do you think about the whole drawing of names? and of course, what they are drawing names for... I think the idea of having children fight to the death for government services is a dark and terrifying idea. Imagine if we drew two names from Illinois, and then we watched as our friends tried to kill each other. Makes me shudder to think about it.

  2. I agree that is a frightening thought! And I think that people shouldn't be punished for others actions!
